CAN! Conversations & INCCA Talk: Death of an Artwork, Part I

CAN! Conversations is a series of discussions on the quandaries of conserving contemporary art. Rosario Llamas Pacheco

Rosario currently works at the Departamento de Conservación y Restauración de Bienes Culturales, Universitat Politècnica de València. Rosario does research in Conservation of Contemporary Art.

Ana-Lizeth Mata Delgado

Lizeth has a degree in conservation from ENCRyM - INAH and a Master in Art History with a specialization in Contemporary Art from UNAM.  Since 2007 she is Professor-researcher, organizes the Workshop Seminar Restoration of Modern and Contemporary Art and responsible for the subject "Public Art and its exhibition contexts" within the Master in Museology of the ENCRyM. She is currently the Academic Coordinator of the Restoration Degree of the ENCRyM-INAH. Titular Coordinator of the research projects "Registration, Diagnosis and Conservation of Urban Art" and "Documentation, registration and material experimentation in modern and contemporary art."

Zeeyoung Chin (Moderator)

Zeeyoung is a conservator of modern and contemporary art at Leeum, Samsung Museum of Art in Seoul, Korea. Since 2005, she has worked with different forms of art and a variety of modern materials such as paintings, outdoor sculptures and installations found in the museum's collection. Before coming to Leeum, Zeeyoung graduated from a 5-year-long training program at Ecole Supérieure d'Art d'Avignon in France, obtaining a master's degree in paintings conservation with honors. Her thesis was on the "Conservation of Colorfield Paintings" which led her to working on modern paintings and materials in her professional career.

Material Whisperer/Art Conservation Services

Martha Singer is the Director of Material Whisperer Consultation and Conservation Services, based in the New York City area. She specializes in modern and contemporary sculpture and objects. She has been working in conservation since 1991. Understanding materials, their working and aging properties as well as helping people is what Martha is most passionate about. She especially enjoys working with artists and their representatives or galleries to help them achieve their goals.
