The AIC Respirator Fit Test program is targeted towards conservators who may not have access to a Safety Professional to conduct the test or do not have respirator fit testing available through their employer, but is open to all interested parties. This workshop is in accordance with the U.S. OSHA Standard (29CFR1910.134 - Respiratory Protection). The online lecture and fit test appointments will be conducted by a Certified Industrial Hygienist. AIC's Health & Safety NEtwork
Individuals wishing to be fit for a respirator MUST:
- Watch the REQUIRED online lecture and take the corresponding quiz.
- Complete a REQUIRED medical evaluation within twelve months PRIOR to your fit test. The medical evaluation must be performed by a healthcare professional. If you prefer not to use your own healthcare provider, AIC can suggest a clinic that will review your evaluation questionnaire (additional $25 cost).
- Upload the Respirator Medical Clearance Approval Form signed by a healthcare professional to the portal or bring it to the scheduled fit test appointment.
- Schedule a fit test appointment. The appointments will be scheduled in 20-minute intervals from 10:00am - 5:00pm on Wednesday, May 18, 2022.
- Bring your respirator to the scheduled appointment and get fit tested.
Appointments are limited. The last day to register for a Respirator Fit Test is May 12, 2023, but space may not be available.

You must complete the OSHA Respirator Medical Evaluation Questionnaire and have it reviewed by a physician or other licensed healthcare professional (PLHCP). Please note that it does not only have to be a doctor that can approve you for a fit test; a registered nurse, occupational health clinic, or other health screening service (such as CVS Minute Clinic) may be able to do this for you as well.

This form must be signed by your healthcare provider OR clinic provider and returned to the fit test organizers before the test can be administered. It allows your physician or other licensed healthcare professional to indicate whether you are cleared (medically) to wear a respirator safely during your work without disclosing confidential medical information. This form is completed after a medical evaluation that includes review of the OSHA Respirator Medical Evaluation Questionnaire (Mandatory) Appendix C of 29 CFR 1910.134 included in the OSHA Respirator Medical Evaluation Questionnaire Info Sheet.

Submit your Respirator Medical Clearance Approval Form signed by a healthcare professional before your scheduled fit test appointment, or bring it with you to Los Angeles. After May 9, do not upload the form, just bring it with you to the appointment.
Schedule Appointment
Appointments are available in 20-minute intervals on Thursday, May 18, 2023, from 10am to 5pm. Click "Schedule My Appointment" to gain access to the online scheduler; select a time and enter your name and email address. Appointment options are available on a first-come, first -served basis. We ask that if you cannot attend your appointment, please cancel as soon as possible so that someone else can have your time slot.
